Meet Irene Anyango, a young visionary Kenyan Luo woman, the creative force behind Radiance Leather.
With a heart deeply rooted in her indigenous African heritage, Irene weaves the tapestry of her culture into luxurious tales through her leather creations.
Intricately fusing the strength of leather and the ethereal beauty of freshwater pearls, Anyango’s designs transcend mere accessories; they are a canvas of African stories, each stitching a chapter in her narrative. Radiance Leather breathes life into age-old traditions and contemporary fashion.
Leather has traditionally played a big part in the Luo community from headdresses and necklaces to armlets and other items such as leather aprons ( pien nyadiel ), waist aprons ( olemo/chieno ), cowry shell belts ( okanda gaagi ), bead necklaces ( tik ng’ut ), hippo tusks ( lak rao ) armlets and wrist bangles (minyonge ). Both used as day to day wear and for ceremonial purposes.
Radiance leather borrows from this rich culture and expounds to bring forth artistic, practical and exquisite pieces.
